5 major problems with the iPhone 4S

The iPhone 4S was released in the US and UK on October 14, 2011, and has been gradually launching all across the globe at different dates. In total, the iPhone 4S will be available in 100 different countries supported by 70 mobile carriers including giants like AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. In the first few months of its launch, Apple’s latest offering has done extraordinary well and continues to show the trust of the consumers in their products.

As of yet, there has been no major design flaws or hardware failures reported back with the iPhone 4S. But that does not necessarily mean that the smart phone is a piece of perfection. It definitely has its minor issues and problems. Listed below are some of the most notable complaints or user disappointments with the iPhone 4S...

Lackluster speeds on Sprint

Apple was paid a good amount of money by Sprint to get the iPhone network compatibility. But it looks like Sprint wasn’t ready to handle the load of the iPhone users. There have been complaints of slow 3G speeds within the Sprint community.

Reduced battery timings

The iPhone 4S is packed with amazing features and apps. The intelligent voice recognition software, Siri, new notifications center, iCloud and various other applications have definitely put a massive load on the battery. So it’s not really surprising that there have been issues reported with the life of its battery. Users have noted that the iPhone 4S battery life is significantly weaker than its predecessor, the iPhone 4. It looks like Apple went a bit overboard with their marketing slogans of ‘the best performing iPhone battery yet’. The battery drains most while using the Face-time feature, while Video recording comes a close second. Apple is working on the problem and has promised to fix the issue in the next major iOS update.

Siri finds it hard to catch accents

While Siri is still in beta and there is a long way to go before it can perfected, the iPhone users having a strong accent find it slightly frustrating (and sometimes pretty funny!) that the virtual assistant can’t really understand them right. Let’s say users having a Scottish or Welsh accent have found it quite difficult to make Siri do what they want them to do.

Weak screen colors

Surprisingly, the screen colors and sharpness on the iPhone 4S are much weaker than they were on the iPhone 4. Many users have expressed their disgust at this issue on the Apple’s official forums. According to them, there’s a slight greenish tint (yellow on others, particularly on the black cased units) on the screen and gives an appearance of being ‘washed out’.

So, looking at the above ‘teething’ problems with the iPhone 4S, it can be said that the smart phone is ‘not the most amazing iPhone yet’ as proudly claimed by the Apple corporation. But that being said, if the company focuses and succeeds in solving these issues by the time the next iPhone comes along, then it might just be worth the wait.
